Herald's Proclamation:

The Herald's voice rings across the plaza

"Citizens of Targossas! Dawnblade and servant alike! We gather this dawn to honour those who have stood between shadow and Light, who held the walls when we were but the Dawnspear thrust against the darkness, and who kept the Hearth burning when we became home to the faithful. Let all bear witness to the Watchmen who retire from their eternal vigil!"

The Dawnblade Salute

The Dawnblade companies advance in measured step, forming an honour corridor on either side of the Watchmen. At the command, they draw their blades in perfect unison, the steel singing as it catches the first rays of dawn. They bring their weapons to salute position, blade vertical before the face, edge outward, and hold.

Dawnblade Commander:

"For Light! For Creation! For those who held the line!"

Dawnblade (in unison):

"Eternal is their vigil! Blessed is their service!"

The Dawnlord's Address

The Dawnlord steps forward, resplendent in formal regalia, voice carrying the weight of authority tempered by genuine regard

"Watchmen of Targossas, from Dawnspear to Hearth, you have worn the mantle of guardian through our city's transformation.

You stood upon walls that were more promise than stone, when the Dawnspear was new thrust into hostile ground and every dawn was uncertain. You held watch through storms both mundane and apocalyptic, through assaults born of malice and madness alike. The darkness tested our resolve in ten thousand nights, and ten thousand times you answered with steadfast Light.

When Targossas evolved, when we became not merely a weapon against the Shadow but a beacon of what Good might build, you evolved with us. The Watchmen who once stood sentinel against the void learned to guard not only walls but hearts, to protect not merely lives but the very essence of what makes us worthy of the Bloodsworn's blessing.

You have been the first line of Creation's defense and the last guarantee of our citizens' safety. You have been the visible manifestation of our dedication to Good: steady, incorruptible, eternally vigilant.

The duties you now lay down do not diminish. They transform. Your vigil continues in the example you have set, in those you have trained, in the legacy of perfect service that will echo through every watch bell rung until Revelation itself.

Targossas stands because you stood first. The Hearth burns because you kindled it with sacrifice. We do not merely thank you. We are made grateful by your service, elevated by your example, and forever indebted to your devotion.

May the Light that you guarded now illuminate your path beyond these walls. May Creation unfold its blessings upon you. And may you know, with certainty that transcends words, that you have served with honour absolute."

The Seraph's Blessing

Seraph Myrddin steps forward, voice resonant with the authority of the Aarashi and the Dawn

"Watchmen, brothers and sisters in Light, I speak not as Seraph or Vanguard, but as one who has stood the wall beside you, who has witnessed your devotion in the crucible of our most desperate hours.

The Bloodsworn Gods measure service not in years but in moments of choice. Every dawn you chose duty. Every dusk you chose vigilance. When weariness pulled at your limbs and comfort beckoned, you chose the wall. When others slept in peace, you chose the watch. When darkness pressed close and terror whispered, you chose to stand.

These choices, multiplied across countless days, across years that blur into decades, are the true measure of your service. Not the battles won, though those were many. Not the threats turned aside, though those were legion. But the daily choosing of sacrifice over ease, of the city over the self, of Light over the creeping comfort of shadow.

The Dawnspear was thrust into being by divine will, but it was held by mortal hands. Your hands. The Hearth now burns with sacred fire, but it is tended by mortal hearts. Your hearts.

You have been the answer to every prayer whispered in the night: 'Who guards us while we sleep?' You have been the living proof that Good is not merely an ideal but a choice enacted, again and again, in the small hours when none are watching save Creation itself.

As you lay down this watch, know that you have earned what few may claim: the absolute certainty that you have been worthy. Worthy of the Dawn. Worthy of the Flame. Worthy of Targossas, and worthy of Them.

The Bloodsworn see you. The Aarashi honour you. And I, I am humbled to have served alongside you.

May the Dawn illuminate your every remaining hour. May Creation unfold wonders yet undreamed before you. And may you walk in perfect peace, knowing your vigil was sufficient."

The Seraph strikes his chest with his fist in salute

"Watchmen, you are relieved."

The Final Salute

The Dawnblade lower their blades in perfect synchronization, bringing them down to present arms position, then raising them once more in final salute

Dawnblade Commander:

"The watch is kept! The Hearth endures!"

Dawnblade (in unison):

"May Light guide your path eternal!"

The blades are sheathed as one, the sound echoing across the plaza

The Departure

Constable Kaith Elen and Constable Talia Veran step forward. They are presented with Brooches of the Vanguard and Cloaks of the Ascension in recognition of their leadership. Ceremonial boxes are then placed in their hands, each containing tokens engraved with the words "FIRST LIGHT, LAST DEFENSE" to be distributed among their subordinates. The two constables turn to face their assembled Watchmen, presenting the boxes with solemn dignity before leading the procession.

The retiring Watchmen form ranks behind their captains and process through Scythia Square. The Dawnblade stand at attention as they pass, their honour corridor guiding the Watchmen toward the Flames of Dawn. The formation moves with measured step, the sacred fire casting its eternal glow upon those who have kept the city safe.
